Doseday
A robot arm that fills a weekly pill organizer while a caretaker approves each fill.
Physical AI for Good winnerThe problem
Older adults on several medicines, especially people with low vision, can easily put the wrong pill in the wrong day.
What they built
The arm picks each pill, drops it into the right day, snaps the lids shut and texts a family caretaker a photo to approve from their phone.
Why
Four in ten adults over 65 take five or more prescriptions, and people with low vision are two to three times more likely to need someone else to manage their pills. That someone is usually family, often far away. Pharmacies already sort pills with robots. Doseday brings that to a kitchen table and keeps the family in charge.
How it works
- You pick the day and the pill on a large-print, high-contrast screen.
- The arm grips the pill and checks its grip. If it missed, it searches, retries and remembers the fix.
- It drops the pill into that day and presses the lid until it clicks.
- A caretaker gets a photo and taps Approve or Flag. If they don’t answer, Vonage texts their phone.
- One STOP button always wins, and the page reads every step out loud.
